RGU's Garthdee Masterplan Back to the Drawing Board

The £140 million Estates masterplan for the Robert Gordon University's Garthdee campus will have to be redesigned following RGU's acquisition of additional land across the river from the original site.

The masterplan had been prepared by Edinburgh-based The Design Partnership, to accommodate a relocation of all RGU's city based operations by 2014.

However since the original masterplan was drawn up, RGU acquired Waterside Farm, south of the River Dee, with 50 acres of land, "This opens up a new perspective on the development of the campus which needs to be robustly assessed," Mike Berry, Director of Estates said in a statement.

It is intended that a footbridge will now form a southern approach focal point, and the masterplan has been returned for reassessment. It is not expected to be revised until November.
