Last week MSPs voted in favour of sweeping reforms to Scotland's current planning system in a move to make the process simpler and faster.

The Planning Bill went through last Thursday, and means that individuals may not require planning permission for minor changes to their homes. Local communities will be also be given more of a say with regard to proposed developments- such as shopping centres and housing developments- and further in advance.

However, amendments to the bill giving communities a third party right of appeal were rejected.
