Executive launches consultation on single survey scheme
22 Feb 2007
The Scottish Executive has launched a consultation on the implementation of a system of single surveys for house sales.
The compulsory scheme - which could be in effect by 2008 - means that sellers would have to provide a survey of their property at a cost of between £300 and £700, ending the current system where buyers often end up paying for multiple surveys.
Reactions to the scheme have been mixed, however deputy communities Minister Des McNulty has said that the changes "will deliver a system that is not only better for everyone but is fairer too."
