Work is about to commence on a new multi-million pound housing and business initiative in Greenlaw, Newton Mearns.

The Greenlaw consortium – comprising Elphinston Land, Stewart Milne Homes, Persimmon Homes and Greenlaw Park Ltd – will undertake the 119-acre development, which will be ready for occupation from 2008.

The project will include private and social housing, neighbourhood shops and a GP surgery, as well as a business park, primary school and hotel. There is also to be a developer-funded £20 million upgrade in the local road network, improving safety, local gas, water, electricity and drainage facilities.

Chairman and Chief Executive of Elphinstone, Ken Ross, said the project “will provide much-needed homes and important community facilities to support the new development and the wider local community.”
