gm+ad win planning consent for Sky Park 5

Gordon Murray and Alan Dunlop Architects have now received planning permission for their alterations and extension to SP5 Skypark.

They were commissioned by The Skypark Trust which includes Kenmore, the development company that built Sentinel, to master plan the site and design several developments within Skypark. Other large scale office developments include an AMEC site 15 storey office development, the Houldsworth Street Site, the MSCP Site and the AMEF Site 17 storeys office development. SP5 is the first of these project phases to obtain planning permission.

The proposed works to SP5 include the provision of 3 new additional floors, the refurbishment of the structural core and the re-cladding of the gable ends and the 100m Finnieston Street Longitudinal facade. The enormous scale of SP5 has been handled by proposing a ribbon effect of undulating etched glass panels which give the presence of a complete new building rather than just an extension. The gable ends are proposed to be an aqua glass layer disengaged from the existing gable end.
