Merger between 3D Architects and REID architecture

3D Architects, the third largest practice in Scotland, have announced a merger with REID architecture. The new practice will be called 3DReid. 3D and REID architecture have a long interconnected history, going back 25 years, with several key 3D personnel having spent significant portions of their careers at REID. "There is a commonality of culture and approach and mutual familiarity and understanding, which will facilitate a smooth integration," said a spokesman.

The merger will give 3DReid with a combined workforce in excess of 320 people with offices in Edinburgh , Glasgow and Falkirk in addition to offices in Birmingham, London and Manchester . An expected turnover in the first year in excess of £20 million will rank it amongst the top 10 practices.

Current 3D Director Charles Graham-Marr, who will be Chairman of the new organisation, said: ‘The scale, capability and sophistication of the new practice will enable us to design and deliver innovative and value adding solutions on a wide range of projects up to the largest size and greatest complexity throughout the and internationally.’

3D’s recently projects include 40 Princes Street, Edinburgh and City Holdings HQ in Glasgow, as well as a number of schools projects of which South Lanarkshire, Borders and Clackmannanshire are currently on site. REID designed the Air Traffic Control Tower at Edinburgh Airport and National Indoor Arena.
