Donald Trump's organisation is reportedly hoping that work will begin on their proposed golf resort as soon as January 2008, according to a company spokesman.

The organisation has been accused of ignoring the environmental concerns raised by groups such as the Scottish Wildlife Trust and Scottish Natural Heritage about the dunes and local wildlife, a charge that spokesman George Sorial recently dismissed as "absurd and completely wrong."

"We had a series of sitdowns where SNH expressed their opinions and we expressed ours," says Soriel, however he did make it clear that the needs of the resort would come first.

Trump's resort is looking to build nine holes over the area in question, with plans to stabilise the dunes. Mr Soriel continued: "We are not going to do a project unless we feel it is the best and without that back nine it would not be. It is absolutely critical to the golf course."

The planning application is due to go before Aberdeen Council's Infrastructure Services Committee on 29th November.
