Following initial trials last year, Travelodge has unveiled its second generation Travelpod, reported to be the world’s first mobile hotel room.

In keeping with the company’s own room design and with furnishings made from recyclable timber, the modified pod offers traditional hotel features – luxury double bed, carpeted floor, window blinds, bedside lights and dressing tables – as well as refreshment facilities, a washroom, heater, AC and a TV and DVD player.

Travelodge spokesperson Leigh McCarron said: “The Travelpod is a ground breaker in outdoor accommodation. We ran some test on the original Travelpod concept last year and those findings have been used to develop this second generation model for consumer trials.”

Members of the public will have the opportunity to participate in these trials by entering a prize draw via the company website.
