Tiger buys Scotland Street site

On the west coast Tiger Developments has purchased the ten -acre Scotland Street site in Glasgow. The site, which includes Macintosh’s Scotland Street School, was subject of re-development proposals by Keppie Design in the late nineties. The planned M74 extension which will have an exit near the site and the ongoing redevelopment of Tradeston makes the redevelopment of the semi derelict street more viable. Cooper Cromar Architects has been appointed to undertake a master plan and density feasibility study for the site. An outline planning application is due to be submitted before the end of the year. Subject to planning, Tiger proposes a £100 million high-quality scheme incorporating 358,000 square feet of office space, 130 bed hotel and ancillary retail units. The Category A Listed Scotland Street School, which is owned by the council, will be left intact. Mike Buchan, Director from Jones Lang LaSalle's Glasgow office, which has been appointed to market the site along with Sanders Cartwright, said: "Tiger's development will transform this area of Glasgow into a significant centre for business in the city.
