Cooper Cromar denies Conran rumours

Cooper Cromar has denied rumours that it has been replaced by London practice Conran & Partners on the £120 million skyscraper project for St Vincent Street in Glasgow.

It was alleged that site owners City Lofts had replaced the Scottish practice outright with Conran, who would entirely redesign the proposals, which were granted approval by Glasgow City Council in 2004.

A spokesman for Cooper Cromar said that as far as they understood, they would continue to work on the project, and that the review had been in the works for months. He said: “City Loft has a close relationship with Conran and they are currently reviewing the scheme for a decision as to how the project will proceed.”

The spokesman also indicated that depending on how much, if any, of the existing designs were changed that the proposals might have to go back to the council for approval.

City Lofts purchased the site earlier this year in a joint venture with developer Elphinstone.
