The pollution of public space

The Manifesto Club, a radical think tank, has today launched a new campaign to challenge the way in which public space is polluted by a host of needless warning signs. 'Attention Please' is a two part project consisting of a photo-essay by designer Tom Mower http://www.attention-please.co.uk/essay.html and public online photo album. The public is now invited to send photos of 'over-cautious safety signage’ to the album http://www.attention-please.co.uk/submit.html. Mower’s photo-essay looks at the ubiquitous use of slash tape over pavement cracks and police cones for mark out puddles. "This project questions what such useless bureaucratic signage means for the look and feel of urban life - and calls for a more rational approach to public space,” says the Manifesto Club.
