RMJM designs new campus for University of Paisley
31 Oct 2007
RMJM has designed the masterplan for the University of Paisley’s proposed new campus in Ayr.The practice is currently working on detailed plans for the £75m campus following Paisley’s merger with Bell College which has created Scotland’s largest modern university with over 18,000 students and 4 campuses in the west of Scotland.
Plans include an 18,000 sq m campus building designed to attain an excellent BREEAM rating through the use of sustainable strategies including the harvesting of rainwater and on-site power generation.
Neil McLean, director at RMJM’s Glasgow branch and lead designer on the project, said: “This is an exciting project in a wonderful setting, and the evolving designs will create a modern, cutting edge and unique learning environment.”
The planning application is to be put before the local council in 2008 with completion expected in 2010 if approved.
