RMJM has designed the masterplan for the University of Paisley’s proposed new campus in Ayr.

The practice is currently working on detailed plans for the £75m campus following Paisley’s merger with Bell College which has created Scotland’s largest modern university with over 18,000 students and 4 campuses in the west of Scotland.

Plans include an 18,000 sq m campus building designed to attain an excellent BREEAM rating through the use of sustainable strategies including the harvesting of rainwater and on-site power generation.

Neil McLean, director at RMJM’s Glasgow branch and lead designer on the project, said: “This is an exciting project in a wonderful setting, and the evolving designs will create a modern, cutting edge and unique learning environment.”

The planning application is to be put before the local council in 2008 with completion expected in 2010 if approved.
