Page\Park to redevelop Scottish National Portrait Gallery
30 Jan 2008
The £17.6 million project, named Portrait of the Nation, aims to preserve the original design whilst adding some new creative elements, such as a new ground floor mezzanine, and doubling the amount of gallery space within the building. The entire building is to be redeveloped including external and internal fabric, mechanical and electrical services, finishes, fixtures and fittings.
The architects are to work closely with the Scottish National Portrait Gallery team to consider how the building is to be used and maintained in the future with emphasis placed on sustainability and standards of environmental practice.
Construction will begin November 2009 with completion expected October 2011.
