Work to begin at new mart site in Stirling
Work is set to start on United Auctions’ new £11 million Mart at Hill of Drip in Stirling, developed by Glasgow-based Elphinstone, which will replace the nearby Kidean Mart facility.

The new mart will consist of a 13,5000 square meter facility, two sale rings, 417 pens, five paddocks and 700 square meters of associated office space.

MSP and Minister for Parliamentary Business, Bruce Crawford, took part in the formal turf cutting ceremony. He said: “Investment of this kind is vital to sustaining Stirling’s agricultural heritage for the next generation of farmers. Marts are important for both business and for social contact among famers and I have every confidence that this modern facility will become an important hub for the Scottish farming community. “

The project is scheduled for completion in Summer 2009. Kidean will then be demolished to make room for a missed use regeneration development including housing, leisure facilities and a new business park.
