Women in Property announce Woolfries as new Chairman

Chartered architect Lesley Woolfries, an associate of Glasgow and Edinburgh-based practice, Holmes, has been appointed as the Chairman of the Central Scotland branch of the Association of Women in Property.

The association encourages girls and women to go into the world of property and supports the industry itself though its own mentoring programme, with members including architects, surveyors, planners, lawyers and other property professionals.

Woolfries commented: “I am very much looking forward to working with our existing members through the coming year and also welcoming new faces… As an architect, I believe I can bring a lot to the position. Working with Holmes, and having responsibility for delivering important building projects, from design concept through to construction completion, has given me a real insight into how the property markets work. Dealing on a daily basis with clients, contractors, planners and companies ranging from plumbing to renewable energy requires a thorough understanding of the construction process, as well as, at times, a thick skin.”

Woolfries will hold the position of chairman until March 2009.
