Last night (Wednesday) at the Scottish Parliament, Raymond Young CBE, Chair of Architecture and Design Scotland launched the 2008-2011 Corporate Plan, at a reception hosted by Robin Harper MSP Convener of the Cross-Party Group on Architecture, and addressed by Minister for Culture Linda Fabiani.

“Creating better buildings and communities through raising design quality contributes significantly to other government objectives including economic prosperity, social equality and sustainability,” she told the delegates.

“Public bodies such as Architecture and Design Scotland have a major part to play in achieving these objectives through proactively promoting the value and benefits of good architecture.”

Raymond Young, Chair of Architecture and Design Scotland added “We're looking forward to building on our work to date as we move into the organisation’s second chapter. Our Corporate Plan sets out our substantial ambitions for how we can play our part to improve the quality of Scotland's built environment.”

"As Scotland's Design Champion we will continue to promote the benefits of excellence in place-making and architecture. There is a lot of work still to do in getting the message across, but we are not alone in our efforts. As well as the Minister, there are a great number of people and organisations across Scotland who are supporting our efforts.

"Over the next three years we will work with them all to deliver our shared ambitions for excellence in Scotland's built environment."
