Edinburgh

Donald Anderson, the leader of Edinburgh City Council, will stand down from the council in order to become an MSP, but he won’t be quitting until May 2007. Trevor Davies, the planning chief, is a favourite for the post among many architects, who hope that as leader Davies might finally be able to act to improve the quality of development being produced at Edinburgh’s waterfront. The other main contender for the post is former church minister and education boss Ewan Aitken. But there is also talk about Lesley Hinds and even former Provost Eric Milligan being in the running. If you have any views on this or any other issue raised on the Prospect website, join the debate in the Forum.
