West Lothian Civic Centre
West Lothian Civic Centre is a new building accommodating three principal partner organisations, West Lothian Council, Lothian & Borders Police and The Scottish Courts Service and is set in Almondvale Park, Livingston.
The 18,000 sqm Civic Centre comprises offices, courts, a police station, cells, a council chamber and a new Civic Space.
The office space is open plan and arranged along a linear atrium which provides daylight and natural stack ventilation. The internal Civic Space forms the public entrance to the Centre and is flexible in use, with the council chamber suspended over the main entrance.
The form of the individual courts is clearly expressed behind glazed public routes to the perimeter of the justice centre. The office elevations are contained by a natural stone frame containing curtain walling punctuated by zinc panels which help to modify the internal environment.
Almondvale Park will be re-landscaped, opening up views of the River Almo
