Planet Partitioning help create a slick new home for Chevron

Planet Partitioning, the UK’s leading partitioning contractor, has recently completed a significant £1.8m project for the Aberdeen head-office complex of multi-national oil giants Chevron.

Planet has installed their award-winning Solar double-glazed partitioning with around 120 matching glazed doors for the meeting rooms, conference rooms and ‘huddle pods’ in the refurbished Seafield House and newly-built adjacent Chevron House. Unusually, the plasterboard cross walls for the meeting spaces are laminated with galvanised steel and finished with structured décor making them magnetic for fixing presentation and display material.

A further innovation is the use of Planet’s Spacelite system providing hi-tech privacy; an electric current is passed through the liquid crystals inside the glass turning it opaque at the touch of a button.

This extensive project carried out over several floors of both buildings also had specific performance requirements, with acoustic ratings required throughout in excess of 45db.

Planet were commissioned by Chevron cost consultants William I. Talbot & Partners and worked closely throughout the project with main contractor Morrisons Construction and architect Jenkins & Marr.
